Washington D.C. - Today, the Subcommittee on Energy and Environment held a hearing to examine the role that the Department of Energy’s (DOE) national scientific user facilities play in enabling basic research that drives innovation and economic growth. The hearing also examined challenges and opportunities associated with user facility planning and management. Tony Lanzirotti (U. Chicago/APS), immediate Past Chair of NUFO, offered compelling testimony to the Subcommittee, along with Persis Drell (SLAC) and Steve Wasserman (Eli Lilly/APS). What are NUFO "nuggets"?

In our ongoing efforts to facilitate outreach and communication using social media, the National User Facility Organization has launched NUFO Nuggets. NUFO nuggets are regularly posted news items, announcements and commentary on scientific discoveries made at the national user facilities throughout the United States. We hope that the items posted will be of broad interest to the public, and serve to enlighten as well as stimulate discussion and interest in science and technology enabled by the national user facilities.
